How can I be Godmother to Bajan baby boy,by proxy, I was asked while on hol but cannot afford to travel again,?

I would like to by a godmother to this baby boy, but cannot attend again so soon, having just been out in Barbados for the last 2 weeks. Is it the same as being a godmother in England.
