What would you do if you sent a gift to a friend for her baby & never heard back?

I mailed a baby gift to a friend who lives in another state just before Christmas,after receiving an announcement of the baby’s birth.She & I were close before she moved but since the move we have only corresponded by mail. I don’t even know her phone number or if she has an e-maill address, since she moved about a year ago. I am a little hurt that she hasn’t responded to thank me for the gift, not that that’s the reason I sent it. She is a nice person but I find it upsetting that she would not send me an e-mail or call or something. Should I just forget about it or write to her & ask her if she got the gift. I don’t want to embarass her.

My husband and I really want to do something for his old manager and his wife who are expecting their first baby. This manager was fantastic and went out of his way to help our family, but we dont have the sort of relationship where we keep in touch. We see his manager once in a while and say hello in passing.
Last night while I was at work(babies r us), he and his wife came in to pick up their new crib. We talked for almost 20 minutes and he asked many questions about how our daughter was doing and was clearly interested in how we were doing. We also talked a bit about their upcoming new arrival.
This manager went so above and beyond to help my husband and our family while he was working there, and we really want to do something for them.
They dont have a gift registry, but I make and sell diaper cakes so we were thinking of dropping one off to him at work (left at the security desk, not interfering with work).
Is it appropriate?
